Editorial categories
These categories are under editorial review. Final eligibility, structure and length limits will be published before submissions open.
Primary clinical, pharmaceutical or translational studies with a defined question, transparent methods, results and limitations. Includes observational, interventional and laboratory work with a clear therapeutic or clinical connection.
Relevant reporting guidance: CONSORT, STROBE or another design-specific guideline.
Focused evidence syntheses using a reproducible search, eligibility criteria, critical appraisal and transparent synthesis. Methods and any review registration should be reported.
Relevant reporting guidance: PRISMA and extensions where appropriate.
Critical, well-referenced analysis of an important therapeutic or clinical question. The selection of literature and limits of the evidence should be explained; a narrative review must not present itself as a systematic review.
Cases with a clear clinical learning point concerning treatment, safety, diagnosis or care. Protect patient identity and obtain written consent for publication when an individual could be identified.
Relevant reporting guidance: CARE.
Concise original findings that answer a specific question and can be evaluated from complete methods, results and declarations. A shorter format does not reduce expectations for ethics or reporting quality.
Article types may be refined during editorial approval. If a study falls between categories, the clinical or therapeutic question and reporting design should guide the choice.
